Mon 13 Aug Tasks

Shorter, due to the high probability of thunderstorms coming down from the hills to the north into Uvalde, with a gust front with gusts above 40 kts.  This will also likely give winds from the north, making landing procedure different.

1200 grid, 1220 first possible launch; Dan the Metman - working without the aid of a microphone and projecting very well - believes the day will be slow to start, so probable first take-off near 1300 local 1400 eastern.  Day will OD early, then build impressive CBs on the outflow convergence boundaries as the storms roll south.  Since our tiedown is in an area of no grass, we will likely be derigging in a thunderstorm rain, with lightning all quadrants, in a mudpit.   I LOVE derigging in a mudpit!  MORE! MORE!

No met sheets - no electricity on the SouthWest Texas Junior College and this part of town.

Interesting factoid from the CD; we have now flown a greater distance since the start of the contest than the distance from the centre of the Earth to the centre of the Moon - he promises to try to get us home by the last day!

Tasks:

An interesting day; as our motto goes - "Semper Gumby"  (Always flexible).
